Description of position
This Business Analyst (BA) will be responsible for setting, prioritizing, and evaluating work to engage the membership team in efforts that deliver features and functionality which represent key business strategies. Additionally, this role will take on duties of an Agile Product Owner. The candidate that fills this role will support multiple customers and stakeholders throughout project and iteration cycles. This individual will work closely with end users, business area representatives, Information System resources and other relevant resources throughout each sprint cycle. Furthermore, the role is responsible for coaching and enabling agile behaviors and emphasizing agile values and principles. This is a senior level position that is key to enabling people to understand, learn, and behave utilizing agile methods to drive customer and business value while creating a healthy team culture. The chosen candidate will possess strong skills and characteristics of leadership, self-motivation, and team collaboration.
Tasks and responsibilities Provides vision and direction to the agile development team and stakeholders Plans and prioritizes product feature backlog for development of requirements and business process change management plans Identifies stakeholders, influence, and relationship needs; understanding business and requirements Builds and manages stakeholder relationships including business partners, users, vendors, customers, project team members, and leaders Identifies organizational impediments to successful agile transformation and work with leadership teams to create effective strategies to overcome them Drives adoption of agile practices, techniques, and frameworks to close the gap between concept and practice Identifies and communicates risks and issues that may require changes to scope Provides backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of epics and user stories Ensures that all requirements support the delivery of business value, fulfills goals and objectives and meet stakeholder needs Provides an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of release/sprint goals Partners with business stakeholders to research and analyze market and strategic roadmap Prepares artifacts in an understandable and presentable format Assists in other areas of the department and company as necessary
Required skills, abilities, and certifications 5+ years of Product Owner experience in a Scrum agile environment Solid knowledge of agile software development/delivery processes and demonstrated experience building stories and coordination of epics in such environments Expertise in utilizing standard requirements documentation tools/utilities Demonstrated proficiency in requirements gathering, epic scoping, and user story creation Must possess excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot and provide solutions Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and effectively engage with individuals at all levels of the organization Must possess demonstrated strong communication skills, both verbal and written Must possess strong work ethic, demonstrated attention to detail and excellent time management skills Must be available to work as needed to honor project commitments, meet deadlines, and support assigned business area needs (e.g., nights and weekends)
Recommended skills, abilities, and certifications Credit card, loyalty program, retail, and/or transferable industry experience preferred Product Owner or Scrum Master certification(s) Experience utilizing SAP Activate methodology Successful internal candidates will have spent one year or more on their current team
